RECIPE: Cinnamon Square Treats (No-bake)

This is an easy, tasty recipe that can be made in a matter of 10 minutes. Cinnamon Square Treats are just one of the many possible variations to this recipe. It’s so versatile and a great way to use up some of that cereal that’s been clogging up your cupboards, or just a delicious treat to make for a group (or yourself if you’re like me). No baking is involved, it’s as easy as melting ingredients in a pan. Here’s the recipe I used:

Ingredients

3 Tablespoons butter
4 cups marshmallows (preferably mini)
4.5 cups Trader Joe’s Crunchy Cinnamon Squares Cereal (or cereal of your choice)

Instructions

Spray or butter a 9×9” or 11×7” baking dish. The recipe starts with 3 simple ingredients: butter, marshmallow, and cereal of your choice. First melt the butter then marshmallows in a pot over medium-low heat until smooth. When marshmallows are fully melted and the mixture is smooth, fold in the cereal until it’s evenly coated. Pour the mixture into the pan and press it down to distribute evenly. Cut the bars and store them loosely covered at room temperature.

It’s as simple as that! This recipe makes a delicious product in a matter of minutes. It doesn’t get much easier if you’re looking for a sweet treat to make. Also, I can’t even explain the versatility of this recipe. I happened to have some TJ’s Cinnamon Squares sitting around and thought they would make a nice treat, but you can use almost any cereal for this. Next time I might even try some mix-ins for a trail mix type bar: cereal, nuts, raisins, and M&Ms. Or maybe I’ll try peanut butter treats with Reese’s Puffs.

Another note on this recipe: I’ve seen a lot of variations of this recipe using a 10oz bag of mini marshmallows, 3Tbsp butter, and 5-8 cups of cereal in a 9×13” pan, depending on how much volume you want. This may be more convenient to use a single bag of marshmallows and more cereal.
